Dangerous content (cyber crap)

After this lesson , i understand that internet content is unregulated. those hate sites, fake sites, chain mail, hoaxes and scams are not deleted from the internet.

So how do we handle the content on the internet?

There are two ways.

1 Not to forward UNVERIFIED information

2Check the information with reliable sources such as cyber wellness mentors online or teachers, parents ,trusted adult or even the CRuSH trainers offline.

So if the content are not regulated, how do we do research on the net?

First, it is important that the information i found is correct. But how to determine if the information is correct?

There are three kinds of method.

Method One:

COMPREHENSIVE OR BIASED

A good website would give you more facts and information of the topic but not his own opinion on other people or the topic.

Method Two:

CONSISTENT OR DIFFERENT:

Don't just find information on a website. Find information from different websites and so you won't find the wrong information in one website.
Method three:
CURRENT OR OUTDATED
If you are working on current issues like the economic crisis, you should note the time of which the article was written. This is because there would be the newest and latest news and developments on the issue that may be important for your assignment or study.
To prevent reading untrue content or cyber craps, you can use content friendly search engines like Ask Jeeves for Kids (http://www.ajkids.com/)
You can also use educationally recognized web-sites for students:
Beware of emails that promise you some quick bucks. These are likely to be scams or the sender might have a catch behind the 'great' offer.
If you suspect a hoax is being passed around, you could check the credibility at
Copyright is a protection that covers other people's work.
Piracy-It is to use other's work without paying
Plagiarism-It is to use other's work and pass off as your own
So ,to summarise this lesson,
Internet cannot be effectively regulated

Astuteness in revealing Information

I have learnt how to protect myself on the internet.

And have a cool identity. Which means:
Cannot reaveal my gender and age. so it may reduce the chance of being stalked by stalkers
Original. And not giving names like spiderman, superman
Out of this world.
Something you Like. For example if you like roti prata, you can name yourself Mr/Ms prata

I also learnt that personal information that i reveal online is public .
And cannot be controlled by me who is using or looking at my online information.

In this lesson , i have learnt to PRACTICE SELECTIVE DISCLOUSURE of INFORMATION.
BUT not to lie in order not to reveal informotion or not, I will become a LIAR.

There are two types of information.

PUBLIC :that means you can reveal them on the internet for everyone to see. This type of information does not let anybody to find or contact the you in real life.

PRIVATE : information that would never be revealed on the net, so that not one can stalk you down.

In sumary, information online is not private but public.
